I’m a soil scientist who specialises in pedometrics: that is to say, I spend a lot of time behind a computer building numerical models that predict what kind of soil is where. I currently do this in support of New Zealand’s S-map. I care about soil because if we didn’t have it, we wouldn’t have anything. I also care a great deal about things like science communication and citizen science. This is a blog about all of these things.
